Kong Lear

Tuesday, 7 February 2012 - 9:00am to Sunday, 19 February 2012 - 5:00pm
Kong Lear

A project by Claire Hind and Gary Winters. Kong Lear is an exhibition of film, sound and text.

"We have merged the two fictional characters of King Lear and King Kong because we like the play on words, we like the story of King Lear, we like the story of King Kong and the possibilities of this hybrid figure emerging in York. We like the idea that Kong is inside Lear's psyche – imagine that. And we like the idea that Kong Lear is a woman. Freud would have a field day.

Free artists's talk on Friday 10th February 7:30pm.

Claire Hind will also be performing the related theatre work GHOST TRACK at York Theatre Royal on 3rd April 2012.

Kong Lear is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
