Founded in 2021 by alumni of Plaid and Robinhood, the firm is emerging from stealth mode with a $75 million fundraise, TechCrunch reports. Co-found ers Charley Ma and Mahdi Raza met while leading fintech growth at Plaid, and later oversaw growth, payments, and scalability at Robinhood.

A large majority of the new fund was committed by nonprofit endowments and hospitals, with limited partners including Carnegie Mellon University, Cook Children’s Health Care System, LGT Capital Partners, and Next Legacy Partners. The new fund will invest in early-stage companies spanning enterprise software, fintech and payments, infrastructure, applied AI, and vertical SaaS throughout the US, Canada, and Europe.

In its latest deal, Exponent Private Equity invested in Kingsbridge Healthcare Group, a company operating in the Hospitals/Inpatient Services industry. The investment was backed by Pemberton Asset Management. The deal represents Exponent’s first investment in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The firm also recently announced the acquisition of the UK-based accountancy practice Marden & Co Accountants. The acquisition is expected to be completed in July 2024.
